September, October, November and December – the “ber” months. Yay! The heat of the summer are going away and the cooler months are ahead.
I’m really ready for the cooler days and nights. I moved from the East Coast so many years ago that I really don’t like seeing that “white” stuff – except at a distance on the mountains.
So what does that mean for us? We will be wearing a light jacket in the mornings and evenings, probably walking outside more often and especially enjoying sitting on the patio for a bit longer.
Also, I’m a fan of soups, and “comfort foods.” Yep, give me some comfort foods for the chillier months. Remember – you wake up each day and every day is a gift. Enjoy each one with bliss!
As I approach my 81st year on this earth, I feel that I’m probably in a very good place in my life. I have great friends and family, a home, two beautiful fur babies, great jobs at The Smith Center and my aerobic classes.
If you do not feel you are getting as much exercise as you think you need, it’s never too late to start. Our weather is cooler now, so walks around the community or a park is a great choice to start.
“I get all the exercise that I need.” I’ve heard that from some people that I have met at the Fitness Center where I live.
They may play billiards, walk the dog, play cards or do some other type of activity. They may say, “I am on the go all the time, I take care of my spouse and a house, do some gardening or…..(you fill in the blank).”
Often, these people do move around a great deal during their waking hours. They may rarely sit, but they may never go to a gym or go for an exercise walk. They may be physically active, but they don’t exercise.
Start out slow and gradually build up. You will benefit tremendously and feel better for it!
Positive attitude and good health to all!
