Be Thankful – Age Is Just A Number

Be Thankful - Age Is Just A Number

As I’m entering my 80+ year around the sun, I’m often asked “Are you retired?” The answer is NO! Why do people assume that since you are X number of age that you have to be retired?

I admit, though, that sometimes (rarely) I do get tired and wish I could relax BUT I enjoy my life so much that I’ll keep going until I can’t!

I’m thankful each day that I wake up and can start anew. I love my life – beautiful home, 2 adorable fur babies (kitties), wonderful friends and family and great jobs.

I volunteer at the new hospital, AARP office, the library and sometimes volunteer at The Smith Center where I also work as a paid usher. I live in a 55+ community that now has 61 clubs – something for everyone’s interest. You can be as busy as you want in my community.

I relish learning something new to challenge this 80+ brain of mine and try to exercise as much as I can. Next February, I’ll celebrate my 18th year of teaching Zumba and other aerobic classes.

Learning hula dances these past few years has been such a joy – especially the classmates and instructor who makes it all fun.

Ushering at The Smith Center for almost 14 years has added so much joy to my life. Watching the shows, assisting the patrons experience the fabulous entertainment of whatever we have scheduled at the facility has been an enhancement to my life.

I have met so many fabulous entertainers, fellow co-workers and employees over the years. What a blessing The Smith Center has brought to the Las Vegas community!

So when someone asks, “Are you retired or planning to be?” reflect upon what is best for you personally. I intend to keep active as much as possible.

Reflecting upon all my blessings of my life, I feel so grateful for what I have and will continue to be my healthy, lively and grateful self!

Positive attitude and good health to all!
