You’re Allowed to Dream

On a recent podcast, Dr. Phil said “Sexual fantasies change as we age…. fantasies become more adventuresome than they were when we were in our 20s and earlier.”

Turns out, as we get older our dreams become bolder. When we’re young, we may indulge in erotic make-believe with famous movie stars and musicians or the boy or girl who lives next door.

Later in life, our dreams evolve. They turn hot and heavy, our blood runs quicker, our chests thump harder, our hearts ache, and imagining moments of passion can sometimes be better than the real thing. Some lucky people can simply think their way to climax by way of a surreal sizzling scenario!

According to a AARP “Sex, Romance and Relationship” survey, 25 percent of seniors have sexy thoughts or erotic dreams at least once a day. Sixteen percent have them more than once a day, and men are more than five times as likely as women to say they have sexual daydreams.

The survey also found that nearly 38 percent of all senior fantasies are about sex with a stranger and 21 percent are about sex with more than one person at a time.

Many seniors seem to enjoy retreating into a secret, sensual world all their own. Maturity and experience can help conjure coital visions of sultry sex that can leave you breathless. There is no end to mental curiosity at this stage of life.

Fantasizing is perfectly natural. For women, just thinking about unabashed pleasure can remove the feeling of rejection from generations of sexual repression.

Statistically, men’s fantasies revolve around dalliances with younger women. And while seniors tend not to reveal these arousing dreams to their spouses, partners, or friends, they still like to explore a private fantasyland that’s all in their head.

Indulge in the sceanarios and let your mind, and body flow with it. Ah, the dreams we dream…
