Winter Clothing Styles

If you’re an outdoor enthusiast like myself, then perhaps winter sports peak your interest in the beginning of the new year. On a recent trip, my husband and I went to Park City, Utah not for our previous passion of snow skiing, but more for a visit to try out snowmobiling on a guided tour in the Wasatch mountains.

As anyone knows, if you’re planning on heading to snow country it’s a must to have the proper gear in order to brave the elements. On that note, we dove right into our bags of old ski clothes and realized that even though we had the basics (like ski pants, and turtlenecks) one of us needed a jacket and the other snow boots.

What should have been a fairly inexpensive day, with just the cost of the tour, ended up costing more than anticipated. Amazon does wonders when you’re looking for snow weather clothing where we found the necessary items needed.

Day 1 of snowmobiling was beautiful, but very cold and wet. On Day 2 we decided to head to Utah Olympic Park, where the 2002 Winter games were held.

The museum dedicated to the Olympiads was very interesting and well laid out. In the lower part of the museum was a small section on winter ski fashions, which was perfect for this Fashionista, as they showed styles from the early ‘70s to current.

Much to my surprise, in one of the showcases there was a very old jacket from the ‘80s. I actually had that very same jacket that has now been handed down to our daughter. The details of the jacket’s bright color blocks of green, purple and hot pink was the fashion must have of that era.

As I’ve learned, clothes consistently re-emerge, in one way or another about every 20 years or so. The old saying that everything that’s old is new again seems to fit this pattern.
