TV and Cuisine Together: Netflix Bites

TV and Cuisine Together: Netflix Bites

I doubt that anyone has ever paired television shows with restaurant cuisine but that is exactly what has happened at Netflix Bites at the MGM resort. A popup kitchen originally opened in Los Angeles and a planned closing took place one year later.

A few months ago, the Las Vegas “Bites” opened. The plan here was to once again open for twelve months but that has been extended and not only will the restaurant remain viable, but it will eventually be moving to another location that includes an interactive exhibit as well.

Cuisine-wise there is a collection of different cultural flavors three meals a day. One of the highlights is Bird Boxed which is a combination of fried chicken, mac and cheese, a biscuit plus potato wedges.

There is a lot of food and one of the folks at our table is a fried chicken connoisseur and raved about it. Another fowl option is based on the Squid Game where you get to choose different dipping sauces.

Peruvian Pollo a la Brasa is another winner. Chicken is fire roasted and marinated in herbs and spices. On top is creamy, spicy verde sauce.

A quartet of burgers include a WWE championship selection with a Wagyu double patty, smoked bacon, American cheese, royal sauce, crispy onions and pickles sitting inside a brioche bun.

If you are a fan of Stranger Things you might want to order Eleven’s Favorite, featuring comfort food options like crispy fried chicken, sweet cream and black sesame waffles with chipotle maple syrup and spiced butter.

Pizza and pasta are also represented along with a list of sides like grilled asparagus, au gratin potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts and spiced cauliflower.

Desserts are a big part of the show and you won’t want to miss The Dessert is Lava which is presented with a tableside preparation. Chocolate molten lava is accompanied by a strawberry ganache center and a scoop of buttermilk ice cream hidden under a chocolate dome. This is shareable and will satisfy your craving for a sugary end to your meal.

Other sweets include cheesecake, a brownie cookie and a butterscotch sundae.

Bridgerton Regency Tea is a royal experience with a three-tiered service with finger sandwiches, scones and pastries with a menu designed by Lady Whistledown.

At breakfast, egg plates include a big-mouthed breakfast burrito with a flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled egg, sausage, avocado and hashed browns wrapped in cheese.

The lunch fare is accented with chicken wings, and street food like a Hawaiian taco with crispy wonton packed with yellowfin tuna poke, avocado, furikake, onions and a side of nori rice.

There is a robust cocktail menu that includes The House of Usher with a combination of butterfly pea flower infused Absolute vodka, Luxardo Maraschino, vanilla simple syrup and citric malic acid.

Part of the fun of the place is trying to figure out which show is paired with a dish. You will also enjoy watching patrons play the Squid Game with a tableside spinning wheel.

Netflix Bites is fun for the whole family.
