The Naked Gun

The Naked Gun

8! Yes, I said eight! That’s how many cups of coffee Frank Drelin, ( Liam Neeson), Los Angeles Police detective drank in the first third of this movie. (It proved the point, “cops love coffee”).

This was one of the funniest parts of the film; eight assorted individuals handing him coffee at work, on the job, during interviews, during car chases and not finishing drinking any of them.

The movie begins with Frank Drelin, Jr. who singlehandedly dispatches a gang of bank robbers while disguised as a schoolgirl. He is a clumsy but well-meaning detective with the Los Angeles Police Squad, whose knack for causing chaos is matched only by his unwavering confidence.

Cast includes; Liam Neeson as Frank Drelin Jr. and Pamela Anderson, romantic lead that Liam became infatuated with; mentally, physically, and romantically. He met her unexpectedly at the airport.

He’s armed and she’s beautiful and dangerous. He steps into this sharp, funny tribute to a classic comedy series. The two of them seem to “click”  and get silly during parts of the story.

The co-writer/director, Akiva Schaffer, dusts off the slap stick gags, one liners. It’s a laugh a minute legacy sequel that prove comedies belong in theaters.

Critics called it the funniest movie of the year. The film maintains the original absurd humor with Neeson successfully subverting his serious action hero persona for laughs. One of the most consistently and even exhausting funny movies in a long time.

Go see a funny movie, you’ll enjoy it!
