The Last Showgirl

About ten years ago I took my grandson to one of the magic shows on the Strip and Pamela Anderson opened the show in one of her “Baywatch” outfits.

I remember being in awe of her perfect figure and her flawless skin. A beauty to behold!

The Last Showgirl a film of resilience, rhinestones, and feathers. It’ s a showcase for Pamela in a refreshing dramatic role.

It pays homage to the working class of Vegas with a superb  collection of performances. The “Baywatch” babe learns her hopelessly outdated dance revue has been given the ”hook” after 30 years.

An unexpected arrival of her daughter who she’d given to her sister to raise makes things worse as she is facing the end of her career.

Director Gia Coppola made an excellent, thought provoking, gut wrenching movie with no more than a sketch of a plot. The characters are thinly drawn and there’s not enough holding the whole thing together.

Cast members include Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautisa,, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd. The screen play was written by Kate Gersten. The film is a tribute to the strength of the human spirit.

Pamela Anderson, sans make up is absolutely beautiful. She does a heart-wrenching performance and is indeed an actress.

This is a major moment for Pamela and a mind-blowing experience since “Baywatch” and those of us who always liked her.

An hour and a half movie went by very quickly. I rate “The Last Showgirl” a big 3.
