When one hears the word “actor” virtually everyone thinks of celebrity. The definition of a celebrity is simply, “A famous person.”
Most of us characterize that as being the Hollywood elite that clearly distinguishes and separates them from us. We seem to envy their extreme wealth and position in society.
Still another way of defining them is that they are all imposters – “A person who pretends to be someone else.” That’s what actors do – assume a character that they themselves are not.
A number of celebrities like to advocate for specific causes that have nothing to do with their vocation. That can be both a blessing if you agree with them or a curse if you disagree.
Some of these celebrities have taken it to a new level. They vilify the system if they disagree with a political outcome, such as the Presidential election of 2024.
Few would argue with the perceived fact that Hollowood actors, producers and directors aspire to the Democratic party philosophy. Much to the chagrin of those that do not support the President, they have chosen to let everyone know that they have left the country with no intention of returning until a more left wing friendly person occupies the White House.
This reflects a character flaw or vanity taken to an extreme! Of course it comes as no surprise that they believe that they are so special, that anyone listening to them should follow their lead.
The other side of that argument is: Who gives a “hoot” what they think and don’t let your “backside” get in the way as you go out the door!
Even those celebrities I agree with give me angst! I am of the opinion that an actor should just do what we pay them to do – entertain us.
Keep their “darned” political opinions to themselves. Because of the vitriolic nature of talking politics today, those who take political positions can potentially place themselves in untenable situations.
Over time, these actors will lose their public luster and relegate themselves to the scrap heap of “has-bens!”
