Synchronicity

“Synchronicity is where God stays anonymous” â€“ Albert Einstein

People often asked me if I knew Bill Guggenheim, a Metaphysician-Philanthropist. He was the grandson of Peggy Guggenheim, who she appointed to head the Guggenheim Museum’s Foundation.

Although we never met, Bill and I were acquainted with many of the same people. So, I borrowed a book on the Guggenheims to familiarize myself with him.

When Jim, my ex-boyfriend, came home, I reached for the book. It fell open at my feet to the page about Bill. Elated, I looked at Jim and exclaimed. “This is the week I am going to meet him.” He thought I was crazy.

That Friday, we went to a fundraising event for Biafra. It turned out that Bill was the philanthropist who sponsored the event.

When I introduced myself, he thought I was messing with him. Perturbed, I handed him my business card. It had a soaring seagull logo on it.

I said, “Here’s my name and number. You can call if you want; otherwise, have a good life!”

Within seconds, he beckoned me back,

“You’re right. We need to talk,” and showed me his necklace’s medallion, which had the exact soaring seagull on it. It was his family crest. He then gave me his card.

That summer, I started teaching metaphysics at the “Incredible Journey Bookstore” in Clearwater, Florida. The owner attended an ADC (after-death contact) Seminar in Tampa, where Bill was the keynote speaker. He returned a 6-page handwritten letter to me when she told him about me.

I sent him a Ziggy card that read, “You and I have a meeting with destiny. I’m unsure what that means, but don’t forget to mark your calendar.”

My sense of humor prompted him to drive two hours from Orlando to take me to dinner, where we discovered that many of our family names were identical. It left us wondering if we could be related. His family was Swiss Episcopalian and mine were German Jews.

We eventually found out that there was a connection. When he told his 91-year-old, anti-Semitic mother about me, she asked to be buried with my Jewish family instead of in their family plot, just in case she was wrong.

Needless to say, we shared a good laugh!
