Staying Connected to the Core

Staying Connected to the Core

Over the years, I have become less concerned with (and less interested in) “religion” and more concerned with true connection to my spiritual center. For me, Jesus is my spiritual center.

Although I am witnessing the Christian Society (especially in our country) moving further and further away from the teachings and spirit of Jesus, that doesn’t mean that I need to push away from Jesus.

I may push away from religion but I want to stay connected to the core of what I know Jesus to be: love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, peace and grace.

Today, many of the younger generations push away from religions using “hypocrisy” as their number one reason. I find that sad, but I understand it — and agree with it!

It bothers me and to be honest, I have felt the urge to push away with so many who have gone that route.  My urge may tell me to go in that direction, but my heart and my spirit doesn’t!

So how do I stay true to my faith when it seems that Christianity (which I have followed for so many years) is so far off track? In my quiet moments, I sometimes get overwhelmed with this thought – I am just one person.

I cannot change the world. At the same time, I must remember that I am not called to change the world. I need to follow the spiritual core of my being, staying true to love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, peace and grace.

The more I look at different faiths from mine, the more I see the similarities. (I try to ignore the differences.)

What can I find in common with those with whom I share this life? How can I stay true to who I am called to be? How can I co-exist with so many others who don’t have the same spiritual center as I?

What is the message I deliver to my heart?  To stay focused on:  Love, Forgiveness, Mercy, Compassion, Peace, Grace.

I know that I will find my answers there.
