Rebellion Pizza Supporting Local Beer

Ricky and Ryan

Rebellion Pizza is now open in the Anthem Village center at 2540 Anthem Village Dr. across the street from the Vons and CVS stores and just blocks from the Sun City Anthem community. The name represents pizza business veterans Ricky Lewis and Ryan Perras, who after spending several years working for others, have launched their own venture.

Most in the beer community know Ricky, who was born and raised in Henderson, curated the beer list at Pizza Rock and has managed the CraftHaus taproom in the Arts District since its opening. Ryan as well has long been a part of the beer scene, as he worked alongside Ricky at the Yard House and Pizza Rock and learned a thing or two or three about both beer and pizza along the way.

A commendable decision was to make the beer selection at Rebellion 100% Southern Nevada local, serving brews from every brewery that distributes its beer. Not to worry if you’re not familiar with the local brands, as there’s a large enough selection and variety of beer styles to select from, which the staff will guide you through after asking about what types of beer you prefer.

As for the restaurant, the décor features white and brown brick walls, large windows and a mural by local artist Delano Yepes depicting a space theme with an astronaut in a yoga pose, a flying saucer and floating pizza slices. There’s also a large screen and a bar counter for watching and cheering on your favorite sports teams.

The focal point of the 1,650-square-foot space is a large pizza oven firing up to 800°, churning out styles of American hand-tossed (similar to NY style), Midwest tavern (cracker thin crust), Sicilian (focaccia thick crust) and Detroit (cooked in a pan packed with white cheddar topped with marinara sauce).

After a soft opening, with shortened hours and drawing so much patronage that they occasionally had to close early due to running out of dough, as of June 15 and after bringing on more staff, opening hours have been extended to 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. The response from the initial customers has been extremely positive, with many commenting on Facebook and the Nextdoor app regarding the excellent customer service, it being the best pizza they’ve found in Las Vegas and one saying, “after two years of looking for a pizza that settled my NY cravings we have found our pizza home.”

With the extended hours comes additions to the menu, with wings, garlic knots, tenders, pasta, sandwiches and plant-based items gradually being added.

We wish Ricky and Ryan much success and I personally am looking forward to enjoying a high-quality craft beer and pizza spot located only two miles from my house! As for those in the Sun City Anthem neighborhoods and beyond, having a stellar pizza and craft beer haven means not having to venture down Eastern or far from your home to enjoy a great lunch or dinner out.
