![]() By: Rana Goodman The first annual Red White & Blue Gala at the Venetian sponsored by the Republican Women of Southern Nevada PAC was a HUGE success. The Vegas Voice sends a monumental congratulations to Daryll Ann Carter-Sulliman, chairwoman of the event and her committee on a job well done. There were many items of interest during the evening but here are just a few that really stood out in my book. Rather than just have a color guard enter prior to our pledge of allegiance, in came a group from the Nevada Civil War History Association of LVPW Post #983 complete with drum and costumes. It was fabulous! Baritone George Dare sang the National Anthem and you could have heard a pin drop in the packed ballroom of standing attendees, again, fabulous! The room was filled with political dignitaries I know I will miss some but here goes, Congressman Kevin McCarthy, Congressman Joe Heck, Senator Dean Heller, Nevada Senators Barbara Cegavske, and Mark Hutchison, Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, Las Vegas Councilman Stavros Anthony, Wayne Allyn Root, Former Nevada Senator Ann O’Connell and so many more.
I didn’t know very much about the keynote speaker, Congressman McCarthy before that evening, but his speech was riveting, warm and “homespun.” The most interesting part to me was a comment my daughter, who attended with us, made to me. You see she has ZERO interest in politics, she came only because we had an extra ticket and I pushed her into using it. When I asked if she enjoyed the evening her comment was, “I loved that guy McCarthy, he was awesome!” She is no kid but I’m hoping she reflects the future of our voting younger generation.
