It was no secret that when I lost my dogs Daisy and Muffin within weeks of each other this past April the loss put me in a major depression, followed by last month’s close call puppy scam.
My foul mood was saved “by the bell” with the arrival of a birthday gift from my daughter and publisher Dan of a little pup we named Jenni.
That surprise was topped off by a visit to my photographer friend Tracy Smith, I’d like to share with you that adventure.
I’m sure that many of you, like me, have pictures all over our homes of our children including “fur babies.” Last month one of my grandsons were visiting and commented that I needed to update my photos since, he added, those that featured him ranged from 2 years to 10 and only one or two with him, his brother and sister as the adults they are today.
I kept my mouth shut on the retort that kids, dogs and kittens that had shared so much of my life were far cuter and more interesting to me than adults.
That comment prompted a call to my friend Tracy Smith, who I had run into at the Animal Foundation, when I was there looking for a rescue who might fill the gap in my heart.
Tracy, who spent years as a Metro officer, had turned her love for photography into becoming a professional photographer specializing in babies and pets. We had talked some time ago about her doing a photo shoot with me,
I would ask her to take those photos and could we include Jenni in the deal. At that time Jenni was a three-month-old bundle of mischief at that point, but she agreed and we both thought it would be fun.
Our arrival at Tracy’s studio was quite a surprise as she showed her collection of costumes and props she had collected over time and I have to say I was fascinated, how one could collect such an array of tiny garments and toys to use as props for her “clients” was amazing.
It was a fun and interesting day so should you have “fur babies” that you would like professional photos to immortalize them, I couldn’t recommend anyone more patient and cleverer with her four-legged clients along with the props she uses to make those photos especially special.
If you want to reach Tracy, drop me a note and I would be happy to pass along her contact information.
