Mat Franco – “Magic Reinvented Nightly” is one of the best magic shows I’ve seen in Las Vegas – or anywhere. And I’ve seen a lot.
The Mat Franco Theater at THE LINQ seats only 600 show goers for the 90 minutes show which means no bad seats. I, along with an audience of fans from (minimum) ages 5 to maybe 95, thoroughly enjoyed this Rhode Island native as he charmed, delighted, baffled, and totally engaged those who came to see the 2014 winner of America’s Got Talent.
At age 37, this wonder of the magic world has been amazing Vegas audiences for ten years now with incredible sleight of hand, witty banter, personal stories, and non-stop interaction with his audiences. This is a show for all ages.
Mat endears himself to all as he shares his personal story complete with some real video of him as a little 4 year old kid who dreamed of being a magician. He shares memories of a supportive family, years of perseverance and diligent practice, performances for whoever was willing to watch and enjoy.
His kiddish good looks simply add to the delight. His personality is off the charts fun, funny, and fabulous.
Looks and charm and banter and interaction are all wonderful attributes for a performer, but to reach the top, the magics got to be there. And wow is it ever.
Just look around at the mystified expressions on people’s faces. The “ How did he do that?” looks. If you think getting up close will help you figure it out, forget it.
Just ask any of the many volunteers he brings up on stage to interact with him as he astounds them. And he’s great with remembering names. Misdirection, sleight of hand, manipulations illusions – they’re all integral.
Of course there are the tricks with playing cards. In addition, props include stacks of ramen noodle boxes, audience members cell phones, a cannon, and balloons. But in the end, it’s all about the magic.
Shows are at 7 p.m. and sometimes at 9:30 p.m.
