I started selling beauty products over 10 years ago and absolutely love everything about selling and using beauty products. What I don’t love is the recent price increases.
I chose to manufacture in the USA and only use American companies for everything from ingredients to packaging. Competing with cheap products from China adds a whole other level of problems.
Shopping for and testing new products, then finding out you don’t like them can be a costly experience. So recently while looking for a bathing suit (a truly painful experience) I wandered into Ross.
While looking around, I was intrigued by so many of their beauty products. Many were random companies I never heard of – from make-up to face and body care.
I went on a shopping spree! I bought random creams, lotions, a scrub, face wash and even a 5-piece lipstick set. Prices range from $3.99 to $5.99. Some were name brands like Shiseido and Dove but others I’d never heard of.
I didn’t buy anything I couldn’t use up even if I didn’t love it. The face scrub didn’t have the best scent so I’ll use it on my arms and legs. The face wash was heavenly! I loved the smell, the way it made my skin feel and it was only $3.99!
Now for the downside of a fun, splurging, shopping spree. Many of these items are close-outs or discontinued.
The facewash I loved, is nowhere to be found currently for sale. You also have to make sure everything is sealed because there could be old or open box products.
I bought 8 beauty products for under $36.00, then when I got to the register the clerk asked me if I was over 55. I exclaimed “way over” as if it was something I was bragging about.
She smiled and said that gets me an extra 10% off for Tuesday Senior day!
Considering there are face creams that cost $1000’s for a small jar, this kind of shopping is unlikely to find one of those jars. However, you might find good quality stuff and new products you never heard about that you like and save some money while doing it.
