Lip Oil

Lip Oil

Lip oil, new product or just a new name? I kept seeing ads for tinted lip oil. I assumed it was just what it sounded like, a tinted oil.

When I think of oil, I think of thin and oily, but I was wrong.

Recently, a friend gave me a gift, and one of the fun treats inside was Lip Glow Oil, Color Reviver Cherry Oil by Christian Dior I was surprised when I opened it and found what seemed to be a wonderful, light pink, tinted lip gloss type consistency.

It wasn’t oily at all. It smells wonderful and is very shiny. I love it. This “oil” was lighter than a heavy gloss and not as sticky, but it has a gloss-type feel.

I have been using more matte lipsticks, although I used to use gloss often. Especially in my younger years; it was my go-to.

Sometimes, I’d use just gloss, or liner and gloss or gloss of my favorite color, but I hadn’t purchased any recently, so it was fun to have this.

I researched the difference between oil and gloss. As the name suggests, the oil is said to penetrate and hydrate better. While this is the only oil I have tried, others may do that.

This one feels a little thicker to me, and if worn over lipstick, I’m not sure how much difference it would make.

The other thing I learned about this brand is that it is very pricey compared to many drugstore glosses on the market. Victoria’s Secret sells one for under $20 with high reviews; this Christian Dior Lip Glow Oil is $42.

This is a buyer-beware brand knock-off! On Amazon, they sell what looks like and goes by the same name for about $6. Although it doesn’t say Dior, the package and name are exact, which could certainly mislead buyers.

Especially products you put on or in your body, it is important that you are buying the real thing. According to the FBI, some of the ingredients that make up counterfeit cosmetics and fragrances are downright dangerous.

There are many on the market. If you decide to try it, just make sure it is from a reputable brand.
