As our country celebrates its 250th anniversary, we have great respect for the men and women whose sacrifice, energy, and determination enabled our freedom. Others came later but also helped to make this the greatest country in history.
Have you wondered if your ancestors played a part?
The Las Vegas FamilySearch Center (LVFSC) can help you trace your family and learn more about them. Located at 509 S. 9th Street in Las Vegas, the Center has numerous resources that will assist you in identifying your relatives and recording their stories, all at no cost.
“FamilySearch” is free search engine that provides access to billions of records and allows individuals to set up free online accounts to manage the family records. You can create pedigree charts and other documents outlining your lineage.
You can attach photos, documents, oral histories or other information. You may even find out that significant research has been completed about your family. You can access your FamilySearch account either at the FamilySearch Center or on your phone, tablet or desktop computer
The LVFSC has over 60 volunteers to help people find and document their ancestors. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced genealogist the Center can be a very valuable resource.
LVFSC has equipment that will allow you to digitize and preserve your photos, video tapes, slides, VHS, DVD, 8mm film, audio tapes, magazines and books on a flash drive, also at no cost.
No need to pay others to preserve your records, we can help you do it yourself free of charge, and it’s very easy to do.
Our website, LasVegasFSC.org, provides information on resources available, hours of operation, and allows you to make a reservation to use the digitizing equipment or visit our free “Escape Room” experience.
In recognition of America 250 we will be providing special classes on American Revolution era genealogical research. Classes will be held each Tuesday morning in April and May at 10:30 am at the Center. No cost or need to pre-register
The Las Vegas FamilySearch Center would love to help you learn more about your family history. Come check it out.
