Is “Never Again” Now?

Is “Never Again” Now?

Disheartening hardly describes my emotions when my adult children tell me that they fear the events they see and hear daily make them believe this is not totally dissimilar to Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

I want to tell them that they are wrong, but that would be dishonest. I pray that they are mistaken but I also know that many Jews in Nazi Germany and elsewhere turned a blind eye and were sure that the antisemitism would not affect their comfortable lives.

We know that was a fallacy of colossal proportions.

What is this world we live in? One where we are told not to wear articles that identify us as Jews? A world that warns us not to congregate at events or in buildings that are labeled as Jewish?

It is well established and acknowledged that Iran is the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism and much of that is directed towards Jews and Israel. Yet where are the American politicians standing up against that hatred?

Some not only refuse to condemn it, but shrug their shoulders – or worse yet, applaud the massacre of Jews. What is the response of the leaders of alleged friendly countries? Are these the future officers of a modern day Wehrmacht?

There was a time, not so long ago, when politicians, on both sides of the aisle acknowledged the need to deal with Iran, yet in 2026 we are hearing from many that the US should not utilize military means to eliminate the threat from Iran.

Winston Churchill recognized the threat of Nazi Germany. Today, Prime Minister Starmer hesitates to even assist the US in eliminating the Iranian threat.

Ironically, Great Britain sits closer to a possible nuclear attack than the US, but apparently as occurred during WWII, it’s the “not me” mentality, until it is them and then it is too late.

There are American politicians that actually believe we can ward off an attack from Iran by having talks or providing them with pallets of cash. After WWII we said, “Never Again”, but my children see that “Never Again” occurred on 10/7/23.

And now, nearly 3 years later they are told to not wear a Magen David and not to go to synagogue for fear of being attacked.

Sadly, apparently “Again” may be now rather than never.
