I regret and take full responsibility in choosing this movie. I liked the title and did not do my movie homework.
I usually see movies before I research them so as to not to be influenced by critic’s opinions. I sure goofed on this one and was aghast when the first murder occurred on screen.
I’ve never reviewed or gone to a murder movie before. Please accept my apology but I decided to go ahead and write a review so you will NOT have to see it. (Unless you’re into seeing murder films).
The film is praised for nostalgia and familiarity – bringing back elements of settings and characters from the original in 1997.Where was I?
The kill scenes are inconsistent as the first couple strike a tone of gory fun leaving a more serious murder tone in the back half of the film. There’s just so much missing – including logic.
Since I did not see the original 1997 film I am relying on various critics reviews including:
1 Flaws would be forgivable if it were clever, but it isn’t;
2. Serves up plenty of nostalgia without finding a compelling hook of its own;
3. Film is among the worst long awaited horror sequel ever put to screen;
4. A slasher Whodunit meets a Who cares- a legacy sequel not worth screaming about;
I hope by now you get the (gory) picture and you will decide to skip this 2025 version. I rated it a “2.” Once again, please accept my apology.
