Many things make Hawaii unique besides its gorgeous geography and tropical temperatures, such as its Hawaiian legends and superstitions. Some ancient stories hint at early human contact with extraterrestrials.
Like most indigenous cultures, Hawaiians have a profound belief that is deeply rooted in their connection with the “star people” (Aua/Atua) who are the creators of humanity. They believe that these ancestral figures are from the Pleiades constellation, where they’ll eventually return.
Hawaiian folklore is full of tales of spirits, legendary figures, goddesses/gods, nature, and supernatural narratives depicting themes describing Hawaii’s creation. These associations and legendary figures explain the island’s foundation, the power of nature and the relationships between humans and the supernatural which play an essential role in shaping Hawaiian culture and beliefs.
Due to its remote locations and a strict lighting ordinance protecting its dark skies, the Big Island has become a hot spot for sightings of unidentified flying objects. Even though UFOs/UAPs are vastly underreported, it’s an ideal location for spotting unusual objects in the sky.
The renowned observatories atop Maunakea play a significant role in astronomical research, including tracking asteroids and potentially detecting signs of extraterrestrial life. In fact, among the vast information incorporated on her UFO tours, Galactic Ambassador, Dr. Lisa Thompson, who’s “on a mission to alter the fear-based narrative of aliens and UFOs,” among other things, teaches participants how to differentiate UFOs from all other aerial objects.
Never designated as a tourist attraction, the “Hawaii Star Visitor Sanctuary and Launch Pad”, or Kapala is located in a remote area of the Big Island. It was a project designed by the late Robert Keliihoomalu and sanctioned by the Lawful Hawaiian Government and the House of the Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Hawaii that same year.
The sanctuary is envisioned as a place where ‘star ancestors’, as referred to in Hawaiian mythology can visit and potentially offer guidance and healing to humanity and a gathering place for like-minded UFO enthusiasts to gather, share experiences, stargaze and meditate.
Not intended for human space travel, the launch pad, in a metaphorical “welcome home” sense for potential interstellar contact, is more accurately described as a spiritual and symbolic site reflecting a unique perspective on humanity’s place in the cosmos and its connection to both ancient mythology and the pursuit of political self-determination.
