From Basement Dreams to TV Fame

Too often, life overshadows our childhood dreams. But for Deanna – the singer who goes by just her first name – persistence is paying off.

Her dreams began in the basement of her family’s home, a converted VFW hall where she sang and danced along to her mother’s Connie Francis and Brenda Lee albums. Today, millions know Deanna’s voice and face from the popular Jardiance television commercials where she sings and dances, showcasing the ” tiny little pill with a big story to tell.”

Those commercials have made Deanna one of the most recognizable faces on television in recent years.

Following the enthusiastic reception of her Las Vegas debut at the Italian American Club, Deanna returns to the Club for an encore performance August 23 with guests Bucky Heard of the Righteous Brothers and Mark OToole scheduled to appear.

The daughter of Italian immigrants who operated a small restaurant, Deanna spent much of her childhood helping in the family business. “I cooked my butt off.” Her culinary talents eventually earned a White Apron Master Chef Award from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Deanna entered a competition that earned her a four-year scholarship to Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music. Her career took her from cruise ship stages to performing backup vocals for Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder and others.

Eventually, however, she grew weary of the demanding time commitments required by live performances and corporate events. After relocating to California, an appearance on America’s Got Talent opened new doors, allowing her to focus on recording and performing for television and radio commercials.

Deanna also built a reputation as a highly respected vocal coach, a profession she continues in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas entertainment community has reignited Deanna’s passion for live performance, with entertainers including Marc Giovi inviting her to share the stage. Deanna’s ability to connect with an audience – and fellow performers – was displayed recently when headliner Rita Lim invited her for an impromptu performance of We Are Family.

Despite never having sung together and having no rehearsal, the pair delivered an electric performance that captivated the audience. Yet she refused to let those challenges define her future.
