I am a huge advocate of generational travel. You know, traveling with Grandma, Grandpa, children and grandchildren.
What better way to make family memories. I have done that many times with my “crew.” In fact, Sharon and I are planning a big Disney World trip at the end of the summer with the family.
And we just finished a generational trip just last month. It was, however, a one generation trip; a baby boomers trip.
My sister Elise turned 70. All she wanted was white sand, blue sky, and aqua waters on her birthday.
So we went on a four-night Bahamian (Bimini) – Key West cruise out of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. We were a small group of five, me and Sharon my sister Stacey, Elise of course and Cousin Steve.
We sailed on the Celebrity Reflection and, since it was Elise’s big birthday, we did all the things Elise wanted to do. I had no say on the day-to-day planning of the four night cruise.
I am not a big beach going guy. Turns out Bimini has a beautiful white sugar sand beach and aqua blue waters.
We spent the day in Bimini on the beach. Elise loved it!
I am also not a big alcohol drinker. Elise wanted to make sure she had a margarita at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville in Key West. We did that too! And I did like that.
Elise wanted to celebrate her actual birthday at a specialty restaurant on the ship, and of course, we had an outstanding dinner eating, drinking and watching a beautiful sunset from the back of the ship. As my grandfather used to say when he liked something: “Not Bad!”
Just being with the family, I knew it would be a great trip. The trip turned out to far exceed my expectations. The memories we made will last a lifetime for all of us.
No doubt, generational travel is the best way to go. Happy travel to all.
