Eye Concealers and Color Corrector

From the time I started wearing makeup in the ‘70s, I’ve always used under eye concealer to help minimize my inherited under eye bags.

Although there weren’t as many concealer choices, it was much easier to hide bags on youthful eyes. Back then, I used Bonne Bell White. Just as the title suggests, it was white.

Now there are many color choices, every shade of skin color has a shade to match. Not only are there many different concealers, there are also color correctors. They are similar, but different.

It’s suggested that the color corrector should be used first to cover uneven issues then the concealer over the top. For things like birthmarks or other discolorations, that would be especially helpful. If you’re just trying to hide dark circles you can probably get away with one or the other – at least I have.

I purchased the viral trending corrector, DRMTLGY Luminous Eye Corrector SPF 41 in medium. I wanted to blend, not highlight my under eyes and the medium matched my skin tone best.

After applying under eye cream, I use just the edge of the unique applicator to carefully place the color corrector only on the dark circle area. I don’t cover the entire under eye with concealer or corrector because in my case I’m not trying to highlight that area; just trying to blend and disguise the bags and dark circles.

Finding your correct skin tone is important if you are trying to blend and cover, not brighten. When using the corrector to cover spots, once applied, lightly dabbing it with your finger blends it nicely.

The DRMTLGY corrector has a 41 spf sunblock. It blends well and goes on smooth.

It is expensive at $44.00 compared to other brands starting at $15. I like this product and it has good reviews but at this price point, I’ll see how long it lasts before deciding if I’ll buy it again.

There are already many knockoffs so if you decide to try it, make sure you are getting the real product. Important note: some people have reported allergic reactions so check ingredients and test for allergies.
