Exercise Your Libido

Senior couples that sweat together stay together.

There are numerous health benefits to crunches that help tighten the tummy, squats that strengthen the thighs, and lifting weights to define the arms, which, face it, have probably lost their slender beauty.

Some seniors go to the gym to work out, tone up, and stay fit. A lucky few go to experience the surge of endorphins and on rare occasions, a happy ending.

When perfecting their agility, muscle masters may realize a warmth and a surge of euphoria that comes with an assortment of contractions in certain areas of the body. There’s nothing wrong with these sensual feelings.

According to Buzzfeed, 10 percent of fitness buffs attained exercise-induced orgasms. Core movements that engage your pelvic floor muscles include leg raises, crunches, running, cycling, and yoga.

WebMD reports getting physical in the gym can “ramp up the pleasure for you and your partner. Any activity that gets your heart beating faster and you breathing harder, from brisk walking to cycling, can boost blood flow – including to your nether regions.”

Simply put, a 20-minute workout may cause your muscles below the belt to contract, bringing on sexual arousal.

Debby Herbenick, a professor at the Indiana University School of Public Health, found that 5 percent of people, regardless of gender, reach exercise-induced orgasms. A lucky 1 percent reported enjoying nearly a dozen!

Getting wet helps, too. Researchers at Harvard University say swimmers in their 60s had sex lives similar to people 20 years younger because underwater activity boosted blood flow and improved flexibility.

So, if exercising turns you on, with the added benefits of feel-good muscle spasms, use it as a form of foreplay. It can prepare you and your partner to respond sexually more quickly and intensely later on when you get home.

Cindy Meston, a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, found that 20 minutes after a workout is the optimal time for sexual activity. Next time you go to the gym, don’t forget your stopwatch!
