A lot also depends on how restrictive the diet is. I was on a regular schedule, so I had no limits. The first breakfast I sampled was French Toast with a huge chicken sausage plus orange juice.
The sausage reminded me of a bratwurst but certainly wasn’t as fatty as one of those. It was tender and fulfilling.
Lunch that day was roasted turkey breast, stuffing, gravy, green beans and a small cup of apple crisp. The breast was a little dry, but the gravy helped to moisten things up. The apple crisp had a slight bite to it and it was worth the calories.
Dinner that night consisted of penne pasta with meat sauce, salad, a breadstick and a fresh fruit cup. Overall, the day’s fare was memorable.
A very moist cheese omelet arrived the next morning with home fries and a small banana. By the way a steaming cup of hot coffee was also on the tray and I usually drink tea, but the java tasted good to me. Meatloaf was on the list for lunch with mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli and a very good lemon bar.
Since my stomach was a little out of sorts I opted out of the dinner that consisted of a cheese enchilada, Spanish rice and apple slices. Instead I ordered a custom meal with a salad I would compare to just about any restaurant selection, a Spinach offering with lots of fresh strawberries and a mound of feta with a fitting dressing.
Other meals I enjoyed included Chicken Marsala, rice pilaf, roasted zucchini and a very good chocolate chip cookie. Beef Burgundy with egg noodles, peas and grapes was another favorite.
There is a full list of grill items you can either add or order as a meal. Three types of pizza (pepperoni, veggie or cheese), hot dogs, tuna melt or tofu stir fry are a few of the choices. Chicken noodle or cream of tomato soup are served warm and ready to eat.
Side orders run the gamut from green beans to steamed carrots and white rice. You can also order a regular sandwich from the Deli section. There are turkey, ham, egg salad, BLT and Italian subs freshly prepared.
Desserts are led by a very different tasting ice cream in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate. Pudding is also available along with a gooey brownie.
