Anyone who has visited the Emerald Island Grille at Emerald Island Casino in Henderson knows about the delicious comfort food served 24 hours a day. Everything from burgers to large salads is part of the regular menu and has been for a long time.
One of the few complaints about the place was the small seating capacity and the long wait times most evenings. But all of that has changed.
A recently-completed expansion has doubled the seating and the interior has been modernized with a sleek, new look.
One thing that hasn't changed is the food. Value is the name of the game and they consistently deliver.
An Italian offering is a good case in point. Fettuccine Alfredo is just $10.99. Not only do you get a generous portion of made-to-order pasta with garlic bread, but it comes with a choice of soup or salad (mixed greens or iceberg wedge).
A lighter selection is fresh salmon that is pan-seared on a bed of garden vegetables and rice. In the mood for a sandwich? Why not order the Whole Hog ($9.99)? Slow-cooked pulled pork, smoked grilled ham and hardwood-smoked bacon are all piled high on a toasted bun with special BBQ sauce, dill pickle chips and onion.
There are so many specials sprinkled throughout the week that you can visit many times and not repeat the experience. On Mondays, travel to Italy with some picks that include linguine with clams in a red or white sauce, lasagna or seafood pasta.
On Tuesday, enjoy some real American cookin' with "Honey Stung" Southern Fried Chicken Dinner. Hearty pot roast is also available along with beef medallions in marsala sauce.
One of the most popular nights is Wednesday. That is when they feature slow-smoked meats from their "ole' hickory" championship smoker from 4-10 pm.
You will find a whole array of offerings, like baby back ribs with meat that falls off the bone. Beef brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, southern fried catfish and a choice of sides are also offered.
On Fridays, get three course dinners that include sea scallops, coconut shrimp and southern fried catfish as entrees.
Frequent diners look forward to the weekend for Steak House Saturdays from 3-11 pm. Three course dinners are on the menu.
Get bacon-wrapped filet mignon for just $13.99. Blackened ribeye topped with melted Boursin cheese is just $17.99.
A hefty 12-ounce char-broiled ribeye steak plate is $14.99. Soup or garden salad, sautéed vegetables and a choice of sides, plus dessert, are all part of the fun.
If you are looking for a hearty breakfast, you can find it daily from 11-3 pm. Smoked Corned Beef Hash and Eggs ($7.99) is a feast.
Homemade smoked corned beef is grilled up with peppers, onions fresh tomatoes and fried potatoes topped with 2 eggs and a choice of toast. Cinnamon French Toast is a sweet choice at $4.25.
Great food, abundant portions and great prices abound. Isn't it time you visited?
