Daughters of the American Revolution

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and honoring the patriots of the United States of America’s Independence. DAR recognizes contributions to the cause by men and women residing in North America as well as other countries during the time of the Revolutionary War.

We owe it to our Patriots to ensure their legacy endures. We are the living bridge between the past and our posterity. The DAR is ready to assist your quest to prove lineage to a man or woman who assisted with the cause of American Independence.

The DAR website includes free online databases containing information on Revolutionary patriot ancestors and their descendants, as well as a vast array of genealogical resources from the DAR library.

The DAR Genealogical Records Collection is one of the largest known holdings of genealogical source materials including local histories, unpublished records; bible records; cemetery transcripts; early mortuary records; church rolls; birth, death, marriage records; wills and deeds; and many other local records.

The DAR Genealogical Research System is available to the public to help locate genealogical proof documents necessary to verify our relationships to our American Patriots.

DAR’s DNA Network utilizes autosomal and Y-DNA in the analysis for proving lineage connections within the first three generations opening membership to women who are adopted or whose parents or grandparents were adopted or require additional relationship proof.

DAR has several Genealogy Committees to assist applicants with patriot lineage research including specialty teams to assist with African American, Dutch, Jewish, Spanish, Indigenous American, French, and French-Canadian research. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.

With some 3,000 chapters nationally and internationally, DAR has teams of volunteers who can assist with your applications. Nevada has 18 chapters with 9 in southern Nevada.

Las Vegas Springs Chapter holds on-line and in-person meetings on the first Sunday of the month from 3-4pm. We welcome new members. Contact us at lasvegasspringsdar@gmail.com for more information.
