Cruising Through the Years

End of Year Tips

Last month, I turned 71 years old. When Sharon and I purchased our travel agency I was just 35 years old, and Sharon was…younger. Safe to say, we were full of energy.

Back in 1989 our first love of travel was cruising. All we wanted to do was cruise the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean or Carnival on their big two or three thousand passenger ships. We wanted to experience all the energy and “hoopla” of the big ships and all the activities on board.

Fast forward thirty-five years and the big ship cruising experience is not for us so much anymore. Don’t get me wrong; I still like the big ships but we like our cruise experience nowadays to be a bit more laid back and easy going.

That’s why our next big cruise experience will be a Viking River Cruise from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam in the Netherlands at the end of October. Our river cruise ship accommodates only 190 passengers.

The cruise will be a leisurely jaunt along the Rhine River. We will never be more than a few hundred feet from a breathtaking riverbank view in Switzerland, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.

We will start our trip with a two-night stay in Zurich, and at the conclusion of the cruise will stay an additional two nights in Amsterdam. Best of all, Sharon and I will be accompanied on this trip by my two sisters, one of Sharon’s brothers and several cousins. This is truly a family group trip of a lifetime.

Sharon and I are more than happy to help you plan your next river cruise experience. Feel free to call us at 516/485-3200 with any river cruise questions you might have.

*I am also happy to announce our next Vegas Voyager meetings. We will be at the Sun City Summerlin Desert Vista Community Center on Sunday, September 22nd at  4:00 pm and at Sun City McDonald Ranch Community Center on Monday September 23rd at 10:00 am.
