Bump in the Night

Can you have the best sex in your life… with a ghost?

Spectrophilia, or paranormal erotic encounters, is the phenomenon of having otherworldly sex with an apparition that combines the emotional intensity of love with the thrill of the supernatural. It offers a haunting and mesmerizing occurrence for people to share.

Paranormal expert Patti Negri told Cosmopolitan magazine that Spectrophilia is rare but that “humanity has long been fascinated by love that transcends the body.” She said, “These experiences are understood as energetic or spiritual connections, not necessarily physical events.

“Whether viewed as psychic phenomena, deep dream encounters, or energetic exchanges, they open conversation about how intimacy and consciousness might extend beyond the veil.”

You can find myths of supernatural encounters across cultures for millennia, including Daoist alchemy, Tantric Buddhism, and Japanese folklore. Greeks spoke of Zeus taking mortal lovers while dressing in different guises.

One of the most romantic ghost stories of all time was “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.” The movie starred Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison, who fall in love despite one being alive and the other being dead.

More recently, the celestial concept proved popular again in celluloid with “Ghost,” starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. They, too, shared a passionate love that transcended death, and the movie became the highest-grossing film of 1990.

While encounters with “Casper” have been recorded more frequently by females, this phenomenon is not limited by gender. Just ask celebrities Dan Aykroyd, Bobby Brown, and Matthew McConaughey, who have all gone on record saying they enjoyed sexy experiences with ghosts between the sheets.

Have you ever felt the spectral feeling of invisible hands putting pressure on your shoulders or thighs? It’s been described as a gentle electric current or a wave of sexual energy, resulting in long-lasting sensations of pleasure. Some attest that a sensuous spirit can provide “endless pleasure” over a long period, lasting for hours.

So, don’t be scared the next time you hear “Boo,” because you, too, can enjoy a dreamlike clandestine encounter, not with a lover but with a friendly ghost.
