Beware of Phishing Scams!

Beware of Phishing Scams!

What is a phishing scam? A phishing scam is a type of online trick used by criminals to steal personal information or money.

They often pretend to be someone you trust, like a bank, a government agency, or even a friend. They usually send fake emails, text messages, or make fake websites that look real to fool you.

For example, you might get an email saying it’s from your bank, asking you to click on a link and “verify” your account details. If you click the link, it takes you to a fake website that looks like your bank’s site, and if you enter your information there, the scammer can steal it.

The best way to protect yourself is to be cautious. Our Vegas Voice suggestions:

1. Never click on links or open attachments in unexpected emails or texts.

2. Look for signs of a scam, like spelling errors, threats to take immediate action, or strange-looking email addresses.

3. If you’re unsure, contact the company or person directly using a phone number or website you know is real. Never use the contact information from the suspicious message.

4. If you’re an Apple user, stay alert! There’s a new phishing email making the rounds, pretending to be Apple Support. Here’s what to watch out for:

   a. Suspicious Email Address: The email comes from info@gesitheler-sananda.net, definitely not Apple!

   b. Fake Urgency: They threaten to suspend your Apple ID in 48 hours!

   c. Link: Beware of links disguised as “Go To Apple ID”

   d. Fear Tactics: They mention legal trouble to scare you into action!

The bad guy’s  goal? To steal your Apple ID and financial info. Stay safe and don’t fall for this common phishing trick that mimics Apple’s style. Spread the word and protect your data!
