Beauty & Confidence

Beauty & Confidence

Where did  the years go? I turned 71 in June and this is not what I expected. I always thought the 70s were old…until I got there.

While there are physical changes, like the gravity and misplaced fat, 71 isn’t too bad. No major health issues (so far). I’m not feeling old.

I still care about my appearance. But truth be told, some days that mirror can be cruel and leave me feeling less confident.

Interestingly, even some of the most beautiful women of our generation, can have confidence issues about their appearance as they age. Cindy Crawford, now 60 and still gorgeous, shared how sometimes she has to “manufacture confidence.”

She said doing things like going on set, she will self-talk, tell herself she looks great and she can do this.

Being confident can certainly add to how we are perceived. When you feel good about yourself you may smile more, talk easier, and walk taller. Having confidence is appealing.

Recently, I was online looking for reviews of panties for tummy fat. One of the review videos was by a young, attractive woman in her 40s doing a demo in her bra and panties.

She said she weighed 255 lbs. and was 5’4. I watched, listened and learned a lot.

I was so impressed by this woman that was not your typical Victoria Secret body type sharing her story. She was so comfortable in just her underwear, explaining the body struggles she has to find undies that fit, cover her belly, and don’t roll down.

I was inspired by her self-confidence. In a world of filters, plastic surgery techniques for everything, she was so comfortable in her own skin.

She was impressive. Comfortable enough to share and help other women in her undies online.

I used her advice and bought panties that did just what she said. Covered the muffin top, not so tight the fat squeezed out other places and have an extra band so they don’t roll down.

I’m going to try and add “manufacturing my self-confidence” to my beauty routine, especially on those days, where I’m not feeling it.

As Cindy Crawford says, when you aren’t feeling confident, “Fake it until you make it.”
