Affordable Crepes and More: Crepe Expectations

I will never forget the time I had a chance to make crepes at a restaurant after the owner offered to show me how. I fumbled around and ruined a lot of dough before he showed me the right way to make them. It was at that moment I gained a lot of respect for those who make these create

The folks at Crepe Expectations make hundreds of crepes every day. And the day we were there every single one of them looked delicious.

The place is located in a shopping center that is filled with many independently owned restaurants. The space has a large, covered patio area. The format is simple, order at the counter, get a number and place it on your table. An attentive serviceperson brings your order ready to be enjoyed.

The menu is broken into three “Yums”: Savory, Sweet and Breakfast. The Savory section is filled with offerings like The Little Italy which is filled with pepperoni, mozzarella and tomato garlic sauce. The Grand Turk is a mix of sauteed turkey and tomato, guacamole, black olives and jack cheese.

Breakfast Yum is available anytime. After studying the long list, I chose the Sunday Morning and since it was indeed that day of the week it looked as though that was the perfect choice.

What I didn’t expect was the size of the crepe which was huge. Stuffed inside were scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes and jack cheese. I couldn’t finish it but enjoyed every bite along the way.

Some other breakfast choices include The Monterey with bacon, scrambled eggs, tomato, red onions, mild serrano peppers and cheese. Incidentally every one of the breakfast picks is under $8.00 which is a real bargain.

If you are hankering for something sweet you have come to the right place. The Frisco is awash with fresh blueberries in lemon curd. Fresh whipped cream and powdered sugar sit on top.

How about the Ana Bananas Foster? This creative assemblage is a collection of bananas in brandy and crème de banana sauce with more of that fresh whipped cream. Nutella is represented with the Nutty Classic with fresh chopped hazelnuts and all of the trimmings.

There is much more to this place than crepes as there is a nice list of spirits like Domaine Chandon sparkling wine, Cupcake Moscato D’Asti from Italy and a Mimosa Trio Sampler with a choice of 3 fresh fruit purees for $10.00.
