About Those “Reviews”

About Those “Reviews”

Who do you believe when you want to try something new in the world of beauty? Reviews were helpful until people started manipulating them.

It’s important to make sure the review is for the actual product you’re considering, as product listings on Amazon can be “hijacked” and the 5-star review may be for something different.

On Amazon, there are also Vine reviews. These are products given free of charge for an “honest” review. However, many of those reviews slant towards the positive.

When someone gets something free, the review may not be as critical as if they paid for it. Some companies contact Amazon sellers, and for a fee, offer “positive reviews” of products. They “buy” the product and leave a 5-star review, so again, beware.

So, how do you know what really works? You read, sift reviews on the internet, then give it your best shot!

Purchasing a product that can be returned if it isn’t as advertised also helps. Of course, just because a product doesn’t work for one person doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else.

Case in point, I recently bought EnaSkin Dark Spot Remover. I noticed sun spots (or maybe old age spots) on my face and the top of my hands that I’d love to lighten.

It didn’t have as many “rave” reviews as the number one selling product, but their photos online were amazing. It was cheaper, and maybe that was my buying mistake.

I used it diligently for a month, never missed a day and I didn’t see any improvement. Does that mean the reviews were wrong? Not necessarily, maybe my spots are too dark, I really don’t know.

I will continue to use it until it’s gone. If anything changes, I’ll update. From personal experience, I couldn’t recommend it as of now, as it hasn’t worked for me, but it may work for someone else.

*Update: I recently wrote about Pond’s Dry Skin Cream, however, the price I originally bought it at turned out to be on clearance. Searching online, I found the price really varies for this product. It’s always worth checking around if you are considering it.
