A Valentine Ho Hum

A Valentine Ho Hum

It’s happened again I can’t seem to write
What comes out of my brain seems really quite trite.

It’s the time of the year when we see all the signs
Of lovers and sweethearts and sweet valentines.

So much candy, oh so many sweets
One would think I would like all the treats.

But not really, oh no, they’re not for me
I’d rather have fine wine and a rare delicacy.

Give me fois gras and chilled champagne
And some beautiful music that will entertain.

I’ll find a quiet place in which to reminisce
And remember all the places and things I truly miss.

But now I’m thinking about all the months still ahead
Knowing there’s not one of which I dread.

I find a reason to enjoy them all
It’s only February which does not enthrall.

I’ve never liked the month of 28 days
The skies are never blue, I see only grays.

But March with its winds and April with its showers
Bring lovely memories none of which are dour.

Let me end this by saying I’m sorry
There’s no story or recipe to read.

I’ll join you again next edition
When we continue with our tradition.

A story to tell, and a recipe to try
To see if it fits in with your need

So bye for now but let me say
Go ahead and eat some candy.

Those cute little packages
They really are quite dandy
