In celebrating the 60th anniversary of the original Star Trek TV series, I thought I’d write about Tanya Lemani who played the role of Kara in the episode “Wolf In The Fold.” Her
role was of a belly dancer and has become a fan favorite at the many Star Trek conventions.
The photo you see was taken when we were both invited to Star Con Italia in Bellaria, Italy. The cake was made especially for the banquet with our pictures on it.
Tanya on the top in her Belly Dancer costume and me as Lt. Arlene Galway with my (oh so) short hair in the photo next to Armin Shimerman who played the Ferengi.
We’ve done several conventions together, and in August we will also be at the Rio in Las Vegas along with several Star Trek actors. I always look forward to seeing her as she is just as sweet as can be.

Tanya is an Iranian actress born to Russian parents. She aspired to become a classical ballet dancer, but sometimes in life, events change. Somehow at the age of 16 she ended up in Las Vegas! She performed at the Flamingo and had her own show.
Tanya had other roles in such shows as The Bionic Woman, Hart to Hart, Fantasy Island, The Man from U.N.C.L. E. and then landed the role she is most remembered for – Star Trek.
She also authored a book, “Have Belly, Will Travel.” Not only is Tanya an author and actress, but she is also a writer, director, producer and choreographer.
Tanya and her wonderful husband Charles are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. As I write about the people I’ve met over the years, it makes me realize just how blessed I am to know so many wonderful people and I love sharing my stories with you.
Until next time, remember today is the beginning of a new day. Let it unfold in all its glory.
**For those of you who are planning on coming to Mimi Gibson’s Hollywood Child Star Autograph show at the Gold Coast on March 28th , (see next page) I will be there also and would love for you to stop by my table so I can meet you!
